29th February 2008 Acquisition of W.J Handrahan & Son Ltd
On 29th February 2008, Bradford and Sons Limited, acquired the issued share capital of W.J. Handrahan & Son Limited (“WJH&S”).
WJH&S is a well-established timber importer and processing business operating from two facilities at Holbeache Sawmills, Kingswinford in the West Midlands and Sherwood Sawmills, Huthwaite in the East Midlands. WJH&S employs circa 120 people across the two sites.
Andrew Merriam, Executive Chairman of the Bradford’s Group said:
“We are pleased to announce the acquisition of W. J. Handrahan & Son Limited and delighted to welcome the Management and staff of WJH&S to the Bradfords Group. The acquisition will strengthen our existing Snows Timber business enabling us to deliver our offering to a wider geographical customer base.
Bill Handrahan, Chairman of WJH&S comments:
“Having made the decision to retire, I was anxious that WJH&S became part of a larger organisation with the necessary resources to continue development of the business. I am therefore pleased that, following discussions, the WJH&S business is to become part of the Bradfords Group which has an excellent record of growth and profitability”.

5th February 2007 Acquisition of Crendon Group
BRADFORDS ACQUIRES THE
CRENDON GROUP
On 5th February 2007, Bradford and Sons Limited, acquired the issued share capital of Crendon Timber Engineering Limited (“Crendon”) and its subsidiaries.
The Crendon Group is a well-established roof truss manufacturing business and leading provider of roofing services operating from four main facilities in Long Crendon (near Aylesbury), Bristol, Piddlehinton (near Dorchester) and Castleford (West Yorkshire).
In addition, the Group includes a project management business, Crendon Roofing Services Limited (CRS) based in Oldham.In the year ended 31st March 2006, the Crendon Group had Sales of £19.82m and an operating profit of £1.07m.

July 2005 Luna Wood
Snows Timber are distributors of Luna Wood cladding, a new concept for producing stable claddings highly resistant to fungal and insect attack.
March 2005 Responsible Purchasing Policy
Snows Timber are signatories to the Timber Trade Federation Responsible Purchasing Policy (RPP) with all timber imports coming from a well managed source with either FSC or PEFC certification.
January 2005 Chain of Custody
In January 2005 Snows Timber Chain of Custody for both the FSC and PEFC certification schemes which are jointly accounting for 100% of our softwood import.
We have ceased purchasing from non-certified sources with the exception, in case of need, for occasional “UK landed purchases” of Russian or Baltic softwood.
Snows have a proper audited environmental policy/system in place.
The Environment is very important to Snows, every level of the business is set up to government environmental regulations.
