Environmental Statement

The ultimate responsibility for forest policy lies with the sovereign government and people of forested countries. They have the task of balancing environmental, economic, social and political needs.

Nevertheless, Snows Timber believes that it has a responsibility to its customers, suppliers and staff to base its commercial activities on properly managed forests.

Snows Timber does not source wood or wood products from:

  1. Wood harvested from forest area where traditional or civil rights are violated.
  2. Wood harvested from non-FSC-certified forest areas having high conservation values which are threatened.
  3. Wood harvested from genetically modified (GM) trees.
  4. Illegally harvested wood.
  5. Natural forest that has been converted to plantations or non-forest use.

Snows Timber are signatories to the Timber Trade Federation's Responsible Purchasing Policy (RPP) and are accredited with Chain of Custody for both FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certification schemes for wood and wood products.

In addition to which the Directors of the Company aim to carry out all activities in line with best environmental practice with regard to Transport, Timber Treatment, Dust and Sound Limitation.

Recycling of all waste material is pursued through local recycling initiatives and packaging waste sought in line with the 1997 Packaging Waste Regulations.
