Philosophy

To train and develop all employees to improve their skills, encourage them to reach their full potential and to enable the Company to achieve its business objectives.

Snows training revolves around key areas of:-

  • Wood Manufacturing Skills/Operating Staff

Health and Safety
Health and Safety training is of key importance in all Snows operating areas.
Management/Supervisory Skills
We ensure that Managers and Supervisors have sufficient training to carry out the Company's objectives. All Managers and Supervisors are required to stay ahead of all new development in their particular field.
Sales
We constantly review the expertise of our sales staff and provide specific training where this is deemed appropriate.
Engineered Wood Product/Design
Snows and their system providers deliver training in the use of AutoCAD roof truss, eco-joist flooring and timber frame design.
Wood Manufacturing Skills/Operating Staff

Snows provide training to all Wood Machinists via an outside professional training organisation.

New recruits are mentored by other experienced staff.

Many timber pickers are skilled and qualified strength graders, registered under TRADA.

Timber treatment plants at both sites are manned by qualified operatives with particular emphasis on environmental matters.

IT Skills
IT training is carried out by the company's own specialist, supported by external training companies.
Trainees
Snows have varied training options from apprenticeships through to Management training. Formal NVQ's are offered from a choice of Sales, Warehousing, Customer Service, Administration, Sawmilling or Wood Machining. Product knowledge courses are also provided under the auspices of the Institute of Wood Science.
